While training is available in certain specialty areas, you must have emergency services as well as supervisory/command training and experience.
The U.S. SAR Task Force is a state and federally recognized volunteer rescue department created as a not-for-profit corporation to serve communities throughout the nation. The Task Force operates in make-up and structure similar to volunteer fire and rescue departments throughout the nation.

Note that all persons interested in a position with the Task Force must know that a “Task Force” is comprised of persons trained and certified in their respective areas of expertise. All resources are called as needed for emergency or disaster missions. Therefore, all Specialists brought in to the Task Force must have and maintain their respective certifications (EMT, Paramedic, RN, Physician, Chaplain, Search and Rescue Specialist, Pilot, Search Manager, tracker, sign cutter, etc.).
